The BBC reporters got the wrong end of the stick? All those screaming teenagers with the "I LOVE PAUL" signs were for Teen Idol Rocker Mr. Paul Rich! (Not that silly mop head chap) Do your research BBC
ReplyDeleteI'm glad the singer didn't try to imitate Ray Charles; it woulden't have worked. Fellow American pianist/singer Billy Joel described Ray Charles' voice as "crazy", maybe, but I would more say "uniquely emotional". The song was written by one Donald Eugene (Don) Gibson, a true country artiste who made use of some surprisingly rhythmic accompaniments for his songs e.g. "Sea Of Heartbreak".
