These recordings were first released in 1959the cover has 1962 so they may have been album tracks and issued a few years later,m this copy I think is a much later reissue.

  1. spike had a couple of meat markets with groceries here in the mountains of los angeles, california in the late 50's. one large neon sign of his head must have been 20 feet high.this is a rare record that i have never heard of from his band. it is so funny!

  2. Thanks for posting all of this wonderful stuff, "Lord Of The Boot Sale" - terrific!

These Spike Jones renditions are some great tracks, and in case anyone out there doesn't know, you can get this collection, plus a load of other tracks, as from the LP version, on CD (maybe from the USA only). Another great CD album of Spike's to look out for is "'OMNIBUST' + '60 YEARS OF MUSIC AMERICA HATES BEST'" - 2 ALBUMS ON 1 CD. Fantastic stuff, not to be missed! On the latter album, just listen to Spike's take on Edd Byrnes' & Connie Stevens' "Kookie, Kookie, Lend Me Your Comb", aptly re-named, "Spookie, Spookie, Lend Me Your Tomb". :-)

    ATB.
